Edwards wins in EXP, with Toddy winning in AMA

Round 4 - Adelaide
Race Results

Qualifying,

In the EXP division, Edwards took his fourth consecutive pole position by 0.7 of a second! MJanosh snatched a great second place and was followed closely by Yiannis-HGT in third, his best quali of the year.

In AMA championship elect Toddytauk snatched pole by just under .2 of a second!! A great effort for his first pole of the season. Flyer23 got second by just a whisker ahead of Snakey_Uk third!

Race,

The EXP it was a closely fought battle at the front, with the stewards mixing the heat 1 grid up at the last minute, supposedly for a better spectical! Edwards snatched first back by T1 anyway, with MJanosh closely following and Jlittlejohn in third. Mcmilan crashed out of a strong position and Yiannis-HGT followed suit. MJanosh was in a comfortable second until he had a big spin at T1, just as Jlittlejohn was committed to his line and had no where to go but in the wall, putting an abrupt end to his race :(!

MM was the big mover, getting up to second place, a long way behind Edwards though. Late in the race MM's pit crew had misjudged the amount of fuel needed to complete the distance, so he had to pit late in the race for a splash and dash. Edwards was too far ahead to catch and took a very dominant win, but MM still kept second at the end, just ahead of the American Durielk in third place! MJanosh limed home with substantial damage in fourth place.

The AMA race report was written by Toddyauk very kindly and edited slightly by me.

"Toddy got a fairly good start to the race, as he was on pole, but NMansell was really fast at the start with him being 3rd and going straight into 1st position. Snakey_uk had a great view of me and NMansell battling it out for a while, but then at turn 6 Toddy regained his position back from NMansell and was running first again. At the next corner Snakey_uk and Andytauk followed by passing NMansell as well. On lap 12 NMansell had quite a bad smash into the wall and had to enter the pits. Luckily his car was able to be repaired! Lap 16 again NMansell hit the wall with quite a bang! But yet again he carried on and got his car repaired and finished the race in 4th place. Snakey_uk’s race was pretty good apart from a couple of little bumps, running wide a couple of times and almost flipping the car but still come 2nd overall. Phantom12 unluckily had an accident in the early stages of the race and had to end it on lap 2. Andytauk had a fine race too other than a few mistakes here and there he had a good 20 laps and brought on 3rd place for a step on the podium. Well now the championship has become even closer with Toddytauk closing the margin on Snakey_uk. We will have to wait too see what will happen in the final round at Nordschleife."

A long haul flight back from Australia, will bring us to the final round round of the 2006 BMW GTR championship. Nordschliefe is undoubtedly one of the most difficult tracks in the world and by far the most dangerous! I think there will be more DNF's than finishers for sure, Cya all on track!

For AMA, PLEASE send a race report/summary to edwards@f1rst3.com for the last race, thanks!

MJanosh leads the championship! Toddy wins in AMA!

Round 3 - Spa
Race Results

Qualifying,

In the EXP division, Edwards took his third consecutive pole position by 1.6 seconds! McMilan snatched a great second place and was followed closely by [TSR]Bobster in third.

In AMA new comer LulaSenna snatched pole by almost a whole second! The ever consistent Snakey_Uk grabbed second and was very, very closely followed by Flyer23 in third!

Race,

The EXP race was more about just trying to finish, than worrying about where you finished. Only 3 runners completed the distance, in this race of attrition. It was, for the first time this year, dominated by Edwards, who took a lights to flag victory!

The fight for second saw a sensational race long battle between MJanosh and McMilan! I lost count as to how many times they overtook each other during the race! Both of them drove superbly and cleanly. MJanosh was to finally state his ground and claim second place at the line, by just over 1 second. McMilan settled for a great third place in the end and was very happy with it.

Championship leader Trick, crashed out while running very strongly. He said "It seems that the right rear wheel bearing failed and it sent me hard into the wall! It's a big shame, because it is a big blow for my championship chances". MJanosh was happy though, as he has now taken over the lead of the Expert championship, with Edwards close on his heels in second.

The AMA race was a closely fought affair as usual, but coming through for a fantastic maiden win was Toddytauk, his rise to the top has been slow, but he finally made it on this very technical circuit.

Toddytauk talked to Autosport, and had this to say "I am over the moon, I just can't believe I have finally won and at this track as well! I just want to thank my whole team for this great effort and we are looking like strong contenders for the championship". Snakey_Uk, you better watch out!

Flyer23 equalled his best race result of the year in second and gained some valuable points for the championship. Championship leader Snakey_Uk had some dramas in the race and took third place too keep his chances alive. He had this to say "I am very disappointed with my driving today, I should have done better, but we will work hard for Adelaide". A great result for Andytauk in fourth, will give him some confidence for the Adelaide race in a few weeks time.

A long haul flight to Adelaide in Australia, will bring us to the fourth and penultimate round of the 2006 BMW GTR championship. It's a very tricky street circuit in the middle of the Adelaide city. Yes, where Schumacher won the championship in controversial style!

For AMA, PLEASE send a race report/summary to edwards@f1rst3.com for the following races, so I can write a better report please, as I don't know what the heck has gone on in ama, thanks!

Championship front runners, crash and burn!

Round 2 - Road America
Race Results

Qualifying,

In EXP, Edwards once again took pole position, by the slimmest of margins from Wa*king Attack in second, sorry I mean TJBoiler ;)! McMilan snatched 3rd, but 1.6 seconds off the front two!

AMA saw the blisteringly fast Snakey_UK snatch pole, a clear 0.3 ahead of Danny3L in second, with Toddytauk taking a distant third place.

Race,

The EXP race was action packed and a big surprise really! Edwards led, from TJBoiler and they drove away from the pursuing pack of cars. But it all came to disaster when TJBoiler got hit hard by a back marker and it damaged his suspension! Only a few laps later the suspension collapsed, and he was sent into the concrete wall hard, he was carted off to hospital in critical condition :(. That was the end to his championship, as he broke two legs and it was going to take considerable time to recover.

Edwards, meanwhile, could not believe his eyes, his main championship rival was out! But in the confusion, Edwards's pit crew distracted him and he missed his braking point! It was too late, he went head on into the wall and wrote the car off. At the same point, VTW inherited the lead, which lasted for 1 corner, when he spun and hit the wall!

All the chaos, left McMilan in charge of the race and he stormed to a dominant victory by over a minute and ten seconds from Trick, who got a well deserved second place. [TSR]Bobster drove superbly to get third place on the line and do his team proud. VTW limped home in fourth place.

Championship elect MJanosh, was running well in second place, but a mistake by his team, on the brake ducts meant that his brakes failed with 5 laps to go. He carried on using engine braking, but, on the final turn, of the final lap, his head let go! He careered off into the wall and that was it, day done. He left his team and went in search of a new one.

In AMA, Snakey_Uk took a pretty solid win, by over 21 seconds from Toddytauk in 2nd place. Snakey_Uk was thrilled about his win and wanted to thank just about everyone in the paddock! Third place went the way of Danny3L, a very consistent drive ensures that he remains high in the championship standings!

I have to mention NMansell, he took an amazing fourth place (he didn't crash!?!? No way!) for himself, and he was delighted by it.

For AMA, please send a race report/summary to edwards@f1rst3.com for the following races, so I can write a better report please, thanks!

Round 1 - Race results

Race Results
Raceday arrived, 12 cars lined up in expert, 8 cars in amateur. The mechanics finished their heavy work and can eat more kebab now during the race as i have heard from insiders that there won't be any pitstops ! This would mean in EXP they will have survive 22 laps, in ama 16 laps on their one set of tyres. The insiders predicted that one set of tyres would last 15 laps. Although some race drivers said that it's just a matter of being conservative on them. The forecasts were bright, hot and sunny.

In EXP there were a few drivers who had to go the toilet very bad before the race. Rumours said it was a big job they had to do, so they didn't show up on the grid. Mjanosh was celebrating and yelling "Hoorraaay!", as he knew his chances have gone up. His aimn was to nail down killing_attack in the race. He was faster, but unfortunately he failed by pushing over the limit and spinning a few times. killing_attack took on a consistent pace the win, before MJanosh who finished P2 on 28 seconds. TexasF1Racer took a suprising, but very strong P3. He had a strong race to finish close behind Mjanosh and therefore rounding up the podium for EXP.

In Amateur Snakey_Uk grabbed the victory by being the fastest of all ! Amazing job Snakey_Uk. While Flyer23 took pole in the qualification, but Snakey_Uk drove his socks of in the race and conquered the gold cup, P1. The spectators went wild and screamed "Go Snakey, Go Snakey", when Snakey_Uk kept kissing his gold cup after the race. Flyer23 came in second only 4 seconds behind Snakey_Uk. Being so close to the victory made him think, but while Snakey_Uk is getting drunk on all champagne, Flyer23 stays focused and aimns for the next GP on Road America. 1 Second behind Flyer23, Danny3L rounded up the podium. He must have been really frustrated to be so close to the silver and gold cup, but yet he was pleased to be on the podium and obtaining some good points.

Congratulations to all and for those who failed to obtain a satisfying result. Cheer up, you're chances are growing comming races ! We'll cheer for you ! Now please visit our BMW GTR league forum, to stay up-to-date, visit league forum

We fly over now to Road America. The track that pleases many drivers with long straights, exciting corners and being an amazing package. Some drivers say this track is very close to SPA on their favourite list. Let's find out ! We can switch the kebab for hotdogs and enjoy the sun also there. Forecasts are dry, hot and sunny again ! See you there.

Round 1 - Qualify results

Qualify Results
Welcome to the BMW GTR season. After Edwards rounded up all hard work on setting up the league and sorting all stuff behind the scenes, killing_attack took over his job of maintaining and fulfilling the BMW GTR league admin duties. We fly to Istanbul for round 1. Many tested their new cars of the season on this beautiful venue. Putting the horsepower down on the tarmac turned out to be a great challenge. Drifting and fighting the car through the corners got the drivers to the very limit.

The qualify turned out to be quite a suprise. In EXP there was a huge gap in time between the top 3 and the rest. Edwards took an amazing pole, increasing his streak that was postponed from last season. The pole time was 0.5 second quicker than killing_attack who came in second, "stressed", because he was closely followed by MJanosh at 0.7 seconds of the poletime rounding up the top 3. Then from P4 to P10 everyone was packed within 0.5 seconds, amazing ! That will be some close racing in the race.

Now who said amateur is not exciting ? Look at the fight that has developed for pole. After 2 qualify attempts Flyer23 grabbed pole, 0.066 in front of Snakey_Uk, amazing ! Toddytauk was wise taking P3 and giving room for Flyer23 and Snakey_Uk to fight it out. Behind the top 3 a huge gap once again to P4, rounding up amateur with a total of 8 drivers.

All the mechanics are stressed out, eating kebab, no sleeping and working on the cars to prepare them for raceday. Let's sit down and see what the race will bring us.
