Winter League 2006-2007 Results!

FINAL Results WINTERLEAGUE
And the Winners are...
Another Great Winter League over.

Let me first say I want to thank ALL competing with us in F1RST3 again.
It was a Season with ups and downs indeed, like you will remember our 'DAT-problems' at Adelaide and Hockenheim Long.
I apologise for the confusion it caused, but I guess we all agree it was solved in a satisfying way.
Anyway, exciting it was!
Most important, we all had fun and close, competitive and FAIR racing! And that is what it is all about!
Beside that, meeting people and just have fun!
I have to say we again made many new friends and we as well had great times with you!

An EXTRA compliment for both EU Racers (managed by Taurus) and EU Racing League (managed by Neela). They both, as NEW Teams, managed to beat the former Winter Champion, LRT. Well done! A deserved win for sure and we (LRT) enjoyed racing such fair and nice drivers!

Pascal made some Point Charts of our Winter Season. Both Top 10 per class.
You can find the AMA Chart HERE. And EXP Chart HERE.

Some things to mention as usual.

  • I want to thank Veldt000 (Pascal) as League Admin for running this Season with me. You did a great job, couldn't have done it without you mate! Of course our Marshals as well!
  • I put up a Poll about the way YOU want us to check for cutting. Please READ and TRY as described, before you vote! The poll can be found HERE.

CONGRATS TO ALL CHAMPIONS!!!

Top 3 drivers per Class will receive their trophies as soon as possible. Remember they are made of solid Gold, Silver and Bronze, so take good care of them!

They will be visible in our Client soon, in front of the respective drivers.

Hope you enjoy them and all remember your fame forever :).

Race results for the last time this league

R5 - Phillip Island
And yet another race finished Down Under.
This will be a very short report from me. €a$H will round up this league with some swirling news-report. I also don't have to type so much as we got three race reports from:
  • Jeeves
  • NewtyNG5
  • Taurus
  • Neela

Consider yourself lucky as you don't have to read all my shit ;)

AMA division

After grabbing pole ricardoferreira dropped nine places! This opened the door to 728666 for his first win. He even managed to stay ahead of kreet69 and other fast guys as: turbakiasss and Danny3L. Hopefully we will see all you guys back in the coming league

Burning rubber at the start

EXP division

Well I have not much to tell for this race, we let you guys to the talking.

Sended by Jeeves (Heat1 TZB):

As always, I felt slightly nervous at the grid, waiting for those red lights to go on and then finally off. I had a short first gear, which didn't actually help me at the start, but I still managed to keep Tyger and Glen behind. To be honest, I had a bit of a "Schumi"- moment there, as Tyger tried to go around me from the outside and I kinda put him in a tight spot there. Anyways great stuff from Tyger for keeping it tidy. :thumbs up: With the Dutchman breathing down to my neck, I tried my best to get some margin between us. Turned out that it wouldn't be so easy as I had thought. I still managed to increase the gap slightly, maybe a tenth or two per lap. On lap 11, the pressure was off as Tyger slid wide at the devious Turn 7.

But for my surprise, Glen had been quite close to him and I still had to push on. I was frustrated as almost all the time I won on the other parts of the circuit to him, I lost it on the 3rd sector because of understeer. I had about an 8 second lead when I went to pits (the gap was 8 seconds for a looong time), with Glen staying on the circuit for two more laps. Unfortunately (for him :D) he couldn't quite capitalize it as he was having a hard time choosing which pitcrew's services to use.
After both of us had pitted, the margin was now a steady 11-12 seconds. A few laps later Glen went off at T2 (Had a few scary moments myself in there too). At this point the scenery started to be more interesting than the racing track and so I spun at T8. My target from there on was to lap Timmy, which I eventually succeeded in.

The race had the ingredients to be a real classic IMO, too bad it went like it did. Though considering how difficult it is to overtake in there.. - maybe, maybe not.

EDIT- Sended newsreport by NewtyNG5:

Race started, close 1st turn, grid order, me and timmy side by side in 1st and 2nd turn, wheels touching! Was great!

Race settled for a few laps, Jeeves in lead, Tyger2nd with Glen in hot pursuit, i was 4th , timmy just behind, and nigel 5th.

Suddenly tyger made a mistkae, was a bad crash, but i think he was uninjured (apart from his pride :) ) , Glen almost got taken out by the incident, then me and timmy went through and picked our way through the wreckage!

Now it was jeeves 1st, Glen 2nd, i was 3rd, with Timmy about 2.5 secs behind...

Most pitted lap 23 > i continued as did glen i recall, and nigel for sure! .... my pit was lap 25, in i went.

Came out with a closing Nigel, he make a nice move into 1st corner at blazing speed, i saw him coming and gave room 'no-1 stopping me'! hehe ... now it was 1st jeeves, 2nd Glen, 3rd Nigel 4th Me 5th Timmy

I had almost 9 sec lead by now over timmy, and Nigel was low on fuel (1 stop!), so i chased and followed as i was getting low 08's after my pit which was good for me!

Then all of sudden he spin, i had nowhere to go and we collide :( , poor Nigel looses a wheel and has to DNF, i loose front wing, and tip toe around loosing precious seconds > and have to do an extra pit...

Now it was Jeeves, Glen, Timmy, Newty , only four left...

I push like crazy trying to close 32 seconds to timmy but seemed a vague hope...

By lap 45 Glen had gone :(

Now it was Jeeves, Timmy, Newty

Last stops up, i caught Timmy and passed as he went wide, but i had another pit stop to do! Could i catch him, seemed unlikely!

As we went and polished off the final laps, Jeeves won easy with some amazing lap times, Timmy finished 2nd, i came 21secs behinds .. Shame Nigel05 span and i hit him, was a shame for both of us > but was a fun race...

After the race i ran over to Jeeves and shook his hand, then over to Timmy , i bowed to him, well deserved champ!

Sended in by our friend Taurus (Heat2 TZB):

Sergefr, being on P1, has had a good start and catapulted his Renault into T1 alongside to Taurus (P3) and followed by Don Hulio (P2).

Soon the positions were: Segefr (Renault), Taurus (Ferrari), Don Hulio (Sauber), buattila (Ferrari) and JrEdward (Ferrari).

For the first few laps, Sergefr and Taurus were leaving the pack behind them when Taurus had his 1st of several spins. He had to let the whole grid pass before starting to put pressure on JrEdward.

Don Hulio
and buattila were taking turns passing each other with buattila being on the lucky side pulling away eventually (good for the team).

Meanwhile, JrEdward forgot that warming the tires after pitting should be 1 lap, not 1 metre, crashing his Ferrari shortly after leaving pits and retired subsequently.

Taurus
managed to close the gap to Don Hulio, only to make a foolish pass and spun, losing the front wing and had to pit again to replace the wing.

Sergefr
never gave up the lead and finished the race without any mistake at all.

Sended by Neela (Heat3 TZB):

Gastel had a good start but was polite enough to make room for everybody else to pass. Blackdog entered T1 first but managed to be last in T4, after going just a little too wide in T3.

Veldt
was 1st now, followed by Keithyboy and Neela, trying to pull away from Gastel. But it took quite a while until Gastel spun, releasing Neela from his tight grip.

That happends when pressurised too much.

Apparently. Keithyboy put too much pressure on Veldt, who has lost his engine, just when he was entering the last turn.

Blackdog
was going wide a few times, still trying to catch up with Gastel, who was still in Neela’s ear with his annoying Mosquito sound.

Suddenly, Blackdog’s car just stopped in his favored going-wide-turn and never returned onto the track.

Keithyboy has won the race, followed by Neela and Gastel, finishing 3rd.

And now some final words from you reporter. As you could read I didn't look after my engine enough (blame the mechanics, it broke within 3 laps). Bad luck. And speaking of bad luck: our Admin CasH had to drive alone (ISP problems). With only 2 laps to go he crashed his RedBull-Ferrari. With some calculations: Your admins, together, completed one race distance. Big hura for us! :(

Keep your eyes open for the league round-up by CasH and hopefully some more news about the new summer league.

Your reporter for this exciting event,
P. aka veldt000

Phillip, our own Flight Sim

Q5 - Phillip Island
Qualifying results for Phillip Island
Some relaxed laps after the stressfull Qualify in Hockenheim.
However some still seemed to manage to cut here (sorry Danny, HAD to say it :P). However in his case I must admit it was the DAT that screwed him. BUT... like we SO often say: TEST the DAT to KNOW what it accepts!

Polesitters for this round are:
AMA: Ricardoferreira
EXP: Jeeves (again)

Nice Scenery at Phillip

AMA division

Polesitter Ricardoferreira again clinched Pole! Closely followed by two Greek drivers: Turbakiasss (I'd like to know what that means?!) and Spinos7. Only 5 managed to either 'cut' (Danny3L? Yes, you'll know it this time :D) or flew over some nice scenery when missing some corner here! Guess this track could be used as a start off for some new Flight Simulator... If you don't know what I'm talking about, have a look in some of our testsessions at this track. Believe me, I've seen some FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY here! :D.

EXP division

One boring man in here :P : Jeeves, taking another pole! No offence mate, but you were again the fastest man on track! Well done!
GLEN147 quietly did what he is good at: taking another podium! This time in second place!
Last of Top3, but not least, is my own Teammate and F1RST3 Staffmember: Tygernoot. He seems to be almost on pace again! Glad he joined us again, even having us pressuring him to work for us developing our Client. I must add however, he didn't have much practice, but still I expected him to take POLE! Guess I'll have to do other things to stimulate him even more ;). But have an eye on the Race Results...

General stuff

EU Racers, the Team of Taurus, is unbeatable this Winter. I don't want to congratulate him yet, but well, who can do anything about it? It's just a great, fast Team! We'll beat you in the upcoming Summer Season :P. Lowland Racing Team (mine ;) ) just stands no chance this Winter. We even will have trouble keeping the EU Racing League Team of Neela behind us! As they are outnumbering LRT (now our driver Jos had AGAIN to make his wife pregnant with TWINS, so he will be out for some time. Congrats Jos! Or should I say.....? :P), I guess we will have to live with 3rd place. However, Neela, LRT will do it's UTMOST best to stay second! But only 2 points seprating us.... Will be VERY exciting!

Hockenheim - not final results

R4 - Hockenheim 2001
Race results for Hockenheim 2001 (Germany - long)
Okay guys and girls here is your late night news.
Well at least not so much hassle this round. News comes fast this time. Hopefully you don't get used to it! :P

You guys make it easy for us this time (writing the news):
NO RACE REPORTS AT ALL!!

EXP division

In expert there were 28 contesters! Continious a big number, and that only for a winter league! I predicted alot of engine/brake problems and there were some! But almost all managed to get at least three wheels over the finish line. Like I did in Adelaide. As it looks for now: a bad example.
Taurus & Edgarmed followed my example. I think a big releave that you guys finished at last! Well done.

Busy pitlane, but not so many stops in this race.

Normally we write about the podium. Well this time only the winner: Tygernoot. What an effort by him. After putting all his spare time in development of the F1rst3-software (CasH & I even got complaints by his GF) Tyger returned (finally). Well done!!!

Neela managed to get his first top 10 finish in his career (@ home circuit)!! Next guy is also worth to mention: Gastel. The most sportive/clean driver I know! Always moving aside when faster drivers lap him. This time he was one of those fast drivers! Good for our (LowlandRacingTeam) position in the Team Championship.

AMA division

One man setting a devilish racepace here: 728666 (what's in the name).
You managed to get a pretty big gap to number two: Danny3L. Danny3L also finished some distance before driver following him: ShoulerBoy (his third podium finish). Danny3L closed the gap to ricardoferreira in the driver championship. The difference only is 12 points.

Team Championship

EU racers
are almost certain of the trophy!! For second place we have a very nice battle. LowlandRacingTeam against EU Racing League. Only 30 points difference!

Country Championship

In this championship I think the finalstandings are already there. Maybe there will be some surprises, but don't think so.

Minor messages:
If you guys have questions, replays, reports or something else send it BOTH to cash@f1rst3.com AND veldt000@f1rst3.com That would make life alot easier for CasH and me. Remember it is also our spare time.

The standings are still provisional for now. You will read in the forum when they are final. We are going to check top 10 of each class.

You guys really took all penaltys in consideration. Almost no cuts or crashes this qualifying round!! Well done...

Polesitters for this round are:

Forecast.....

AMA division

You remember the 20-12, well this time only 6 managed to get a crash or cut (instead of 12) Reduced by 50%, hope CasH doesn't do this to my salary! :)
Danny3L really was flying over the place: 1.32.8, almost 0.2s faster than the regular man at the after-Q press conference. Both can still feel the breath of third man: turbakiasss. Nice effort by you guys.

EXP division

WOW!!! It seems we have got one alien racing here: Jeeves. What a laptime you got in. Hopefully you have some endurance problem. :) Behind the top 4 we had a very very close battle: P5 to P19 in a bit more than one second! I have to mention two pleople: Lion_Heart for doing a great job by getting second place, and my teammate "Jos", his first top three qualification.

General stuff

Last race we had a top three of only EU Racers, and now only three in top 7: loosing speed m8's??? :D Too bad there are no real challengers for you guys in the Team Championship. Same goes for all Dutchies in the Country Championship: no challenge at all, even with €a$H and me defending our country.

IMPORTANT READING:

  • This time the DAT-file worked just fine. But be aware, CasH and I can still asked for your VCR (random or all). Keep racing clean.

Well.... Finally.... Adelaide Race Results!

R3-Race Adelaide
The Punisher...
PHEW!
Finally the results are up after almost a WEEK checking VCR's, looking for cuts. Not that we had to search for them :D.
The time was in the counting part! OMG!
All KNEW after qualify what would be accepted and what not, but apparantly in the heat of the fights, the rules got a bit less attention.
Yes, I admit the DAT was not perfect, but hι, you knew that!

After discussing and hearing your views on this matter, we decided it is the fairest way to count and penalise ALL cuts! Intentional or unintentional. This way the unintentional equal out for all, so the intentional remain punished per saldo.
From your reactions (thx for support guys!) I guess all can live wih this solution.

Before we go to the fun part, the reviews, I like to say IN BOLD, that our next track Hockenheim Long, will have the same problem! It is easy to cut there!
Two tings about that:

  • Mind and check our rules and our DAT-file! So you KNOW what is allowed!
  • ALWAYS keep your VCR after the race! We WILL again check! Either random or if needed, overall!!!!!

Now what we actually are here for, the results!
EXP: EU Racers Jeeves and Timmy5354 taking first and second, in a close battle! Followed by third placed Keithyboy, the fastest driver this time for UK Racing, beating his Boss NewtyNG5 by a VERY, VERY small margin! I guess Keithy will notice in his next salary. Unfortunately I can't tell you if it will be a raise for his podium place, or a cut for beating his Boss ;).

I this time only got TWO reports, from our faithful drivers/reporters Taurus and Jeeves! Thanks guys!
Sorry for the rest of you guys, sometimes complaining about lack of mentioning, but I HAVE to say you don't seem to care, as I didn't get ANY other report :(.
Fortunately the ones I DO get are always fun to read!

TZB EXP Heat 1 by Taurus:

"Glen147 just took off, He was on a 3-stop strategy and he was just screaming away. He had a 30 sec. lead in no time.

Meanwhile way back, there was at least some action going on. Newty had to worry about Timmy, being on his tail all the time, and Taurus, trying to pass Jos for the whole 1st stint. Only because he extended his stint, he was able to leave the pits before Jos, giving him a 5 sec. lead over him, which he increased eventually.

GLEN147 shaking off... himself

Shortly before that, Glen had an incident, just 150m before pit-entry he’s touched the wall ever so gently, still losing his front-wing. Unfortunately he also lost his nerves and instead of entering the pits to get a new wing, he chooses to accelerate to full speed, trashing his car to the fullest extent.

Later, Veldt000 passed Jos very enthusiastically in T3, not knowing what to do with all that speed in T4, losing his wing at the wall.

Veldt000 overtaking Jos. Well, he TRIED :D.

Timmy, having again those rapid pit-stops, closing to Newty once again. He is probably donating his whole salary to his pit crew, servicing him so fast. Not like Taurus, having his usual Espresso and Jos, enjoying a cup of Sake. It will be taking care of in Hockenheim to make sure that Timmy will get a refreshment during his pit-stop, supplied by a know local brewery. Glen, after realizing what just had happened, went right away to the next pub to check, what breweries are offering there.

Newty won the race with Timmy on his tail and Taurus finishing 3rd."

TZB EXP Heat 2 by Jeeves.

"We had scheduled to run the race at monday, but due to connection issues (Timmey's new router didn't work as expected and none of the rest had a good enough connection to host 6 people), we decided to race on tuesday, hoping that Timmey would get his router "back online" by then. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out like that. As we were scratching out heads about the ping issues, Veldt000 invited us to a chat room and saved the day. The heat was now officially split to 2 heats: Me, Keithyboy, Timmey and Don Hulio in one, with BloodMoon and Eleanor in the other one.

As usual, everyone was afraid of the expected T1 disaster, promising to take it carefully. As the red lights went off, I got a good start and overtook keithy and Don by T1. Had a bit of a slippery-slidy-moment at it, but luckily didn't lose it, as the word "pileup" would've probably gotten a whole new meaning if I had.
Things went quite smoothly until my first pitstop, where I accidentally (!) ran over my pitcrew. Well, at least the lollipop man. The mechanics' suits looked a bit strange, so I just moved on to the next slot. When I noticed that it was full of Honda-guys waving at me like: "Wtf? You're not going to get any service here! For Honda-owners only! So I just hit the reverse and accelerated over the lollipop man again.

At this point, Timmey was a good 10 seconds behind, despite my excursion at the pits. Keithyboy had pitted earlier and I had lapped him while he was at the pits, but now he was in front of me again. At every single lap, my gearchange-layout for the second last corner would look like this: click---click--click. When I was just about going to lap keithy again, at lap 29, I started braking to the corner.. click---clickclick. Yah. You probably guessed already. After the spin the gap between me and Timmey was about 10 seconds again, so I had lost quite a bit of time time I had gained and it was almost halfway at that point.
Before my 2nd pitstop, I noticed keithy in front of me again. It would've
been a good move to go to pits a lap earlier and avoid getting slowed down. Wisdom after the event. While I was trying to get close enough for him to see the blue flag (anyone see the resemblence to my first spin?), I came off a kerb and after hitting the throttle, the car started doing what snakes do when they're trying to swallow a rat or something. Hitting the wall cost me a front wing, but luckily I was planning to stop at that lap already. I saw the fear in lollipop man's eyes, but I was careful this time around and got back to track quite quickly. Tire change, refuelling and changing the nose cone in just 12 seconds. I'm impressed.

The 3rd stint was the cleanest of the three, despite having damaged the front suspension in the crash, so I the steering wheel wasn't exactly
straight. It wasn't too bad, though and I got to finish line safe and sound. Actually, for the first time I really enjoyed the whole race and I wouldn't have mind if there would've been 20 more laps left."

AMA now. Like said not THAT much to tell, as your faithful reporter was not on track LIVE with them. Rumours enough, but reports.... :(.
So I guess you'll have to do (again) with just a summary of the results, like listed below.
Ricardoferreira seemed to enjoy our way of penalising, as during the procedure he kept mailing and asking all week if we were ready handing out. I guess he knew he would come out on top again. As punishment for him, I left him guessing until the last day :P. But congrats again Ric! Great win!
Leoq SEEMED to have clinched his first victory, but after having to calculate his penalty, based on average, he turned out to be the runner up. Well, a compliment as well for sure!
KLGreene finishing top 3, only 3.6 seconds behind the winner! Well done!

Well, off to Hockenheim Long! Like said above, a possible cutter track! All I want to add is: BEWARE! I've already seen some practice Races by some of you and .... 90% cut again! I guess you know what that means...

Have fun guys and take care! And... Big CasH and Veldt000 are watching you ;) :P.

Your reporter and PUNISHER :P,
CasH

Adelaide, the Qualify Results

Qualifying results for Adelaide
Also known as the cutting Track :P

Read more about it below....

Polesitters for this round are:
AMA: Ricardoferreira
EXP: GLEN147

The Crime Scene

AMA division

Of the 20 qualified, 12 managed the track in a 'legal' time, about which more below...
Ricardoferreira did a very fast clean lap of 1.04.836 which is exactly 0.5 seconds faster than second man Danny3L (the one responsible for having this track :P).
728666 follows at only 0.080 seconds at third. Well done guys!

EXP division

ONE name to mention in BOLD is polesitter GLEN147. Initially I assumed he is an Alfa Romea fan like me, but his 147 stands for a score in snooker? Sorry GLEN :D. Second placed Josesc already thought he'd have to celebrate his first pole ever, but GLEN147 just shattered his dreams by pulverising Jose's provisional by a BIG 0.899 seconds! WOW! Timmy5354 closing Top3 close to Jose.

General stuff

One thing bothering me, as LRT manager is in EXP all 3 Top drivers are EU-members. Well, don't laugh... I'm not that crazy :D. EU Racers (led by Taurus) and EU Racing League (led by Neela) seem to have lost their Geometrical feeling, as IMHO not all racers are from the EU :D. Whatever, they do a great job trying to clinch the Team Championship Title this season. However, let's see how the Race Results will be... ;).

IMPORTANT READING:

  • First I have to apologise to you guys, for the error in the DAT-file (Screenshot of crime Scene). Because of that several got a 'cut' lap, which wasn't a cut actually. But to keep fair to all, we decided to leave it as it is, as ALL had to deal with it in the same conditions. So TEST before you Qualify! And KNOW what the DAT accepts!
Do NOT worry about the RACE, as the DAT will not be used during the race. If needed, we'll check visually.
  • A WARNING for the pit entry! TEST it, so you know what I mean. If you take the wrong line, your lap will not count as the game sees it as a cut. Again, TEST please, as we can't solve this AIW problem. NO disputes after the Race!

Round 2 - Race Results - Road America

R2 - Road America
Race results for Road America (Elkhart Lake)
Okay, first some important messages:
1) If you cannot make the heat race, please let your heatmember know!
2) Please drop me (veldt000) or CasH a PM/e-mail, so we can put you on DNF instead of DNS, which is -10 points!! Your teammates will be pleased too :)
3) When racing alone please let your room settings be checked by a marshall or admin.
4) After the long lonely drive, you send the vcr and log-file to veldt000@f1rst3.com or CasH@f1rst3.com, with the name of the marshall/admin who checked the settings.

And now the more important things ;) The deadline for this "easy" circuit has past. Well at least it seems like a easy to drive lap, but apparantly a mistake comes quick. Better luck to all DNF-drivers....

AMA division

too bad CasH and I didn't get any racereport from you guys. Hope you all had a pleasant ride. Danny3L moved his car up to highest spot of the podium, and that after a very bad performance in qualy. turbakiass still managed to steal place three, with only 2 secs behind the winner. Look at the gap those two have on number three: KLGreene. Who gained four places, moving up from 7 to 3. Nice performance.

RedBull overtaken by BAR, while a Ferrari takes a close look at the wall

EXP division

The expert drivers seemed to have problems finishing this race. Only 13 of 25 contesters saw the finishline. Some happyer than others (like me).
We received some race reports, read them... and get some inspiration for next race ;)

Sended by JoseSc (Heat1 TZA):
Hello boss!! (well he knows how to start)
Here's the resumι of the heat race.. First of all there are only three exp drivers in whole timezone A, so Lion Heart(Nicat), my brother and me were in the heat. But, we couldnt race together because we(Marc and me) only got one wheel....Marc would drive alone and Nicat and me would race on sunday 8 pm Est. Lion got a virus in his pc.. so we delayed the race till Monday...The race started great for both and I started building some gap over him.. like 9 secs before my 1st pit stop....he thought he had a better setup than me and went to stop on lap 20...he thought he could manage to build a gap of 1-2 secs per lap.. but his strategy didnt work like he thought and I gained 1st place with a ten sec gap...I dont know what happened next, but he crashed twice taking out his front wing. The rest of the race was a little bit boring bc I didnt have anybody to battle with, also my lap times increased slightly.
This is the most perfect race Ive ever done with no mistakes and being consistent every lap.....I could even beat Timmy5354 and he having like a fastest lap of .5 faster than me..
Again thx and cya on Adelaide!!

Posted by Jeeves (Heat1 TZB):
Here's my version of the horrible events taken place at saturday, 13th Jan. ;)

C3llo, Timmey, Glen, Newt and me had agreed to run the race on Saturday evening, at 21.cet. After the usual stuff (connection tests, practice laps) Timmey started the race room and (you'd never guess) we went in. Some of the guys still wanted to run a few laps around the circuit to be absolutely sure of their setups - or then they had that last minute panic going on. Finally, about 10 minutes later, we found ourselves at the grid.

RedBull & BAR having another fight. Close battle in this heat. BAR only driving on 7 wheels.....

I got a reasonably good start, but C3lloman got a better one, as he  hurried to T1 before me. We had a nice struggle there (he later told us  that he had way too much fuel on the 1st stint), but I was faster and when we started lap 2, I was already on his tail, using the slipstream to  rocket pass him before turn 1. After that things went quite smoothly. I saw Glen having some problems with his V10 (ran through a wall of thick black smoke) and apparently Timmey had had some arguments with his  F1-automobile about the direction they should be going. By the time I had to refuel, the gap between me and C3llo was about 16 seconds. Had a bit of a "Why me? Why is it always me?"- moment at the pits, as the mechanics had to finish their tea&gossip break before changing the tires and filling up the fuel tank for me. Thank you.

I was thinking of running over the lollipop man after the second stint, if I were to ever to get that far. There was now 10 seconds between me and my countryman and I began to increase gap. It settled to about 16 seconds before C3llo went to pits and allowed me to run away from him, at least for a lap. This time the pitcrew worked like a charm, sending me off after a successful 8.2 second stop. The gap was still the same between me and the other Finski, so all I had to do was to take it easy and bring the car home. Two laps after that, I braked to T1 slightly too late, giving slightly too much throttle, and that was it for me. The left side tires went over the kerb just slightly, but add a couple of lateral G's there and you know the result. I obviously spun and hit the opposite concrete wall, losing my rear wing and damaging the suspension. I tried to go on for a few hundred meters before realizing the facts.

And some late incoming racereport by Taurus (Heat2 TZB), even with screenshots and a nice article:
Jos, being on P2, has had a furious start and catapulted his Renault into T1 followed by Taurus (P1) and Timmy (P3).

After warming tires  the positions were as follows: Jos (Renault), Taurus (Ferrari), Timmy5354 (Sauber), Don Hulio (Ferrari) and CasH (RedBull), who has been incapacitated, suffering from fever.

Gaps were closing and Jos felt the pressure, applied by Taurus and Timmy. When he entered Carousel, Taurus went inside of Jos and passed him, who in return has lost road-contact and spun into the fence, loosing vital parts of his car (check video here: www.eu-racers.eu).

Timmy5354 managed to stay behind Taurus, maintaining a gap of 2 sec. Taurus, on a 13-17-17 strategy enjoyed a perfectly brewed Espresso,  extending his pit-stop a bit. Timmy5354 on the other hand, whipped the crap out of his crew and they finished his car in remarkable 5.6 (!) seconds, compared to 12.7 of Taurus relaxing stay.  The same procedure happened at the second stop, giving Timmy5354 a lead of 25 seconds.

Meanwhile, CasH eventually managed to pass Don Hulio and as it turns out, he not only suffered from overheating his head but also his engine, (check video here: www.eu-racers.eu ),  expensively purchased at Ferrari.  He retired after 1/3 of the race, giving room for Don Hulio, who then finished 3rd.

Timmy5354 never gave up the lead and finished the race flawlessly propelling him on top of the championship.

CasH pulling his RedBull over to the side: End of story. Taurus overtaking the "old" man.

For the Netherlands this round of the country-championship has a bad turn around. They still have the lead over England, but only by 2 points. While the two Finski are "only" 73 points behind.

In the team-championship EU-racers did a marvalous job. No other team seems to keep up with this guys. LowlandRacingTeam have a suprisingly fastest guy for this race: Gastel.

Round 2 - Qualifying - Road America

Q2 - Road America
Qualifying results for Road America (Elkhart Lake)
Okay boys and girls: qualifying for round two has come to an end!

Polesitters for this round are:
AMA: turbakiasss
EXP: Jeeves

Nice view of the scenery

AMA division

After a promissing first round, this time turbakiasss puts his nose in front (0.071 secs), well done. You Greek guys seem to be fast! Look at the third place of Spinos7. I must not forget to mention ricardoferreira last race he also was on the after-qualy pressconference, but "only" as number three. This time he moved up to second place. Who knows what will happends next race....

EXP division

After an early shot at pole Jeeves managed to get a low 30-er. And all of us couldn't beat that time! Second place goes to another guy from Finland: C3lloman He knows how a lap is done! At third place again a newcomer: GLEN147 Very good effort! Their heat will be nice one to watch, all three pretty close. I pitty the other drivers in that heat, or they must find some extra speed (or good strategie)

General stuff

As I mentioned before, two fast guys from Greece in top three (AMA) and two from Finland (EXP). This might take our countrychampionship to a new level. The Netherlands are still in the lead, but will they still be after this round!?

As for the Teamchampionship EU-racing still has a firm lead over LowlandRacingTeam, but they are ready to close the margin next couple of races!

Race Results Laguna Seca

R1-Race Laguna Seca
Jeeves FLYING all over!
Our first Race of the Winter Season is over; Laguna Seca!
Seems it was a pretty tough track, as less that 50% in EXP, and just over 50% in AMA made it to the finish.

Again F1 drivers don't seem to be the most fanatic Race Reporters, as this time I only got 1 Report by Jeeves, the master himself.
Normally I can add some stuff about my own Heat, but this time I happened to be in Heat 1 as well (yes, yes, I know. LUCK :P). Therefore only the report from Jeeves this time.

"We had agreed to start the race (TZB EXP H1) at approx 21.00 CET. We, as in Taurus, Newt, Jos, Timmy, CasH and me. We had to wait for awhile for Jos to turn up, as he had problems with starting the client.

So Taurus was elected to be the host (T: Who hosts? Us: You? T: ok.) and he gave us some time to practice before hitting the button (not Jenson, for crying out lout).

Jeeves shaking off NewtyNG5

I got a good start and overtook Newt at T1 (Pic 1). After watching the replay later, I was pleased not to be in the middle group, as there was a sort of a hassle going on during the first few corners. After the "shakedown laps", I started to build the gap to Newt. It worked well, until I spun at lap 10, losing about 10 seconds or so. Newt didn't quite get to my tale and I

started to ecape from him again, for a lap. I spun again at the devious corkscrew entry, lozing about 5 seconds and allowing the englishman to get right behind me. Only 2 seconds separated us when I got on to the track again. The next ten laps before my first pit stop (I was on 2 stop strategy) I succeeded in keepin the car between the white lines and built a gap of approx 20+ seconds to Newty (he spun at lap 14, costing him about 6 seconds). When I got back to the track from the pits, he was on my tail, harassing me to get an overtaking chance. After a lap or two, it was time for him to fuel it up, so I could continue without having to worry about him too much.

The next stint went without incidents. I lapped CasH when he was getting out of pits, but otherwise nothing worth mentioning for happened. It was really hard to be consistant, though. Laguna is IMO almost as difficult as Monaco. There's only one short straight where you can rest a bit, but that's it.
After about 5 laps from my second stop, I spun for the third time.
While I was trying to maneuver the car's front to the right direction, CasH drove by and it almost

CasH overtaking Jeeves, or was it the other way round? :P

looked as if he was thinking whether to stop there and wait for me to go on before continuing himself (CasH:I did, thx! :P). I lapped him again a couple of laps later at T1 without having to move from the ideal line (pic 2). The man should get a fair play card/award or something. Towards the end it was hard to keep the concentration level high, so I set a target to build the gap between me and Newt to 1 minute, as he was 45 seconds behind me at that point and I still had 15 laps to go. It didn't really work out, as I spun once more (a neat 360 degrees) and made a couple more small mistakes which cost me a few more seconds. All in all, the most difficult race for me ever. Boy am I glad that I finished."

As said, not one Report from any AMA driver unfortunately. But as you can see by the difference between Ricrdoferrera and Lula_Hakkinen it was a VERY close one! Followed on respective distance by Danny3L. It would have been even closer, hadn't Mikka withdrawn. He was within 0.01 of the Winner! Sorry Mikka, I bet we'll miss you! I somehow think we WILL see you back however!

I DO like to add a brave, former AMA driver, who made a succesfull switch to EXP! His name is Ryanang, finishing in a very good 7th place! Well done!
Another one, even more succesful, but expected to be fast in EXP is BDave. He even made it to 4th, just outside the podium. I bet however, he will be on it at least once this season!

Beside our Driver Championship, The Teams Championship and Country Championship seem to be exciting yet again! EU Racers leading LRT (previous Winter Champions) and UK Racing (Summer 2006 Champions). Netherlands leading over England and Spain.

On to our small X-Mas break now. We wish you all Merry Christmas and hope to see you all back on track at Road America, which is our next one!

Round 1 - Qualifying - Laguna Seca

Q1 - Laguna Seca
Qualifying results for Laguna Seca
And now, my first (and last?) news item.

AMA: Mikka grabs pole with a smal margin
EXP: NewtyNG5 does the same, but with an even smaller margin!

After a small break, for some of you too long, we started our new Winterleague. As it looks for now, it will also a big succes (as the 2006 season). Already 47 contesters, almost equally devided between AMA & EXP.

As in "real" F1, we have a champion who doesn't compete: Serhanemre.
And we also have one who returns: NewtyNG5 aka good old "Mikka" Hakkinen

AMA division

Mikka was very lucky that TJB forgot to putt all cars equal, he got an other shot at pole. And what kind of shot! He snaps pole by only 0.104. I know somebody how will be down (read: pissed). Runner-up is not the place to be, poor Lula_Hakkinen. Newcomer ricardoferreira did a great job by putting his McLaren on spot 3.

EXP division

NewtyNG5 already returned for last races in the 2006-season to get his pace back. And did that pay off! Pole-position by 0.026. The man from South-America did a great job by moving into second place. I personal think he will be a future pole-sitter! Place three goes to our own Iceman: Jeeves.

F1RST3 Winter League 2006/2007 RH2005 is up!

Hi all,

Yes, already it's time to prepare for our next Winter League RH2005.
You guys voted the tracks, we put up the League as you wanted it.
Unfortunately Jerez initially was in, but it had AIW errors, so it is replaced by Road America (Elkhart Lake), which had the same amount of votes.

As Timon (TJB) worked as fast as usual, we have time to run 5 races. Therefore also Phillip Island is included. I guess many of you will be happy. Especially our Aussi friends, as they even have two native tracks in for this Winter.

Soon we also post general F1RST3 news. Keep an eye on the client, our League pages and of course Forums for news.

Some news flashes now:

  • The full schedule of our Winter League can be found HERE.

  • The tracks we run can be downloaded HERE.

  • Veldt000 (Pascal) will join me as League Admin. Basically to 'learn the tricks' so we have even more back-up/support for you guys in the future. However for now, if problems, questions or whatever mail ME through HERE please!

That's it for now. I wish you all a GREAT League again! CU on track, first at Laguna Seca!
