PTC Round 4 France NORTH - Rouen

The championship moved across france to Rouen for round 4 and the high speed delights of this bottle testing circuit. The long fast run down to the hairpin caused little fuss on Lap 1 surprisingly. Later however as tyres wore those cobbles became very slippery!

Onliner drove consistently to pick up a fine second place after a mistake by McMillan and the heavy barrier contact suffered by MaxMotus in his Brun Jagermeister Porsche. Pitstop and limping round was not possible anymore and the Le Mans Winner retired after more grassy trips. Meantime Onliner continued to prove the Porsche can apply preasure to the Lancia clan and extended his gap over McMillan. Dureilk paced himself well to get home infront Ricardo and DoctorQ, but was unable to do anything about HarryCS who lap by lap had the pace to stay infront! Oh nearly forgot to mention by the way Edwards won...

AMA honours were taken by Snakey_Uk with a comfortable margin of some 40seconds over Art-Tech-uk. Unfortuantly for JETninja the pace was too hot to stay in touch, although he was able to run home 3rd for the final podium slot.

The High speed rat run through high grass verges has really challanged the drivers to the extreme and the pursuit for honours hots up as we head again North for some action outside London England. Brands Hatch GP here we come! See you all there...

PTC Round 3 - FRANCE NORTH - Le Mans 3hr Endurance

The LeMans 3 hour endurance PTC event proved to a true test of the league runners metal. It was more a question of who finished rather who won, but the ultimate result in both EXP and AMA held no surprises. A cool and collected 3 hour cruise for MaxMotus led to EXP honours and over in AMA photoguy consolidated his championship aspirations.

MaxMotus, intelligently, decided to run with the Brun Jagermeister Porsche rather than the more common Joest model that many chose. This led to the realisation by his fellow heat runners that their pit stops may cause issues, all being in the same car! Ultimately a high level of attrition meant that by the 1.5 hour mark half of the EXP field had been obliterated by the armco in various places. McMilan once again delivered a solid peformance for 2nd place leaving 3rd place honours to the American durielk. Championship winner elect edwards had mechanical issues from the outset and his sponsors request for extra exposure caused him to be relegated to the back of the field, as he took their moto too literally - "its a loss less bother than a hover..."

A 1st lap sprint by Snakey_UK meant he led the AMA heat initially but from there his pace could not be maintained and he slipped down the field to end up last by the flag just behind JETninja. photoguy paced himself perfectly for a relatively easy victory as all the exitement was behind him with a strong showing by Art-Tech-uk whose mid race pace got the better of the Canadian smbrm1 who completed the top 3.

The 3 hour duration of the Le Mans event really tested everyone involved, general consensus was that the race became a true endurance event after two thirds distance as aches began to set in and concentration began to lapse. So congratulations to all those that finished! The next round sees everyone head north from LeMans for the short trip to Rouen and the challenging high speed sweeps of yet another classic French circuit. See you all there...

PTC Round 2 USA NORTH - Watkins Glen

A field of 20 runners again lined up for PTC round 2 at the compact Watkins Glen for what was a manic event. The short and fast circuit proving to be an endurance test with no rest during the 52 lap frenzy. Once again edwards triumphed in the expert class but this time driving the Lancia LC2. Over in AMA the finishing position from Sebring was reversed with round 1's runner-up photoguy moving upto the top spot, again in a Lancia - Stuttgart 2, Torino 2!

An AMAZING pole position by MaxMotus driving the Coca-Cola Akin Porsche 956B couldnt be converted into race victory as edwards barged his way into the lead on lap 4 with his Ferrari V8 power getting the best of the Porsche Turbo up the hill after turn 2. In true F1 fashion the only lead changes were then due to pitstops, with the status quo being maintained at the end with Maxmotus settling for a safe 2nd to edwards victory. killing-attack looked safe in 3rd until once again "his habit" got the better of him at half distance leaving the door open for the consistant McMilan to once again head for bronze honours and podium glory in his Martini Lancia.

A North American clean sweep featured in the ama race with the American pair of photoguy and Bobster swapping places from round 1 and the Canadian smbrm1 completing the leading trio. As the flag dropped after 27 minutes of racing only 12 seconds seperated the ama league front runners with the Lancia LC2 proving the stronger car as it did in the exp event.

The Christmas break sees the cars heading for France and the LeMans 3 hour endurance race. From pre-season testing it looks like the torquey Porsche 956B's have the edge on topend speed for the Mulsanne straight where speeds of 235mph+ have been recorded. In the exp championship edwards double victories have given him a healthy lead from the consistant McMilan. Over in ama things are much closer with the leading 3 only seperated by 11 points, Snakey_Uk will be looking for a strong finish at LeMans to stay in the running. photoguy may also get the opportunity to pull away as rumours persist that Bobster has missed his flight to Europe and may miss the next event!

PTC Round 1 USA SOUTH - Sebring

20 drivers appeared on the grid for the opening round of the F1RST3 Prototype C-1985 Winter Championship campaigning a variety of machinery from Porsche AG and the screaming Ferrari V8 engined Lancia's. Given the vital statistics of the Dallara designed Lancia LC2 it was a surprise expert pole and victory for edwards in the works Rothmans Porsche 962C and over in amateur Bobster gave the Italians a double wammy with his pole and victory in the Joest Porsche 956B. Both drivers leading home a quartet of Italy's finest.

A first corner tangle between Oneliner and MaxMotus left the coast clear for a relatively easy victory for edwards in the expert heat. The only pressure for the DontLift runner coming from McMilan who stretched his 1st stint to the maximum taking the lead on lap 17 before pitting for fuel dropping him to 2nd overall. Oneliner made a good recovery but a team error meant his Rothmans Porsche 962C ran out of fuel on the last lap leaving 3rd place for durielk after a mid race "rest period" from killing_attack (too much weed?) dropped him from the last podium position.

Over in AMA Art-Tech-uk set a blistering pace on lap 1 then decided it was too much like hard work and had a rest on lap 2 dropping to the back of the pack! A bad start from the pole sitter meant Bobster had his work cutout to claw the lead back but he succeeded at half distance and finished clear of his North American compatriot photoguy who takes home the silverware. Snakey_Uk's brief spell at the front on lap 2 was the only time the British driver led the field finally completing the podium positions with a solid 3rd place.

So in the end the long and flat Sebring course gave an indication of the Lancia LC2's potential but ultimately the result was Stuttgart 2, Torino nill. The teams now head North to Watkins Glen for the 2nd US round and there is much turmoil as drivers consider what car to use after the surprise result in Florida.

League kicks off with a blast around Sebring

The 2005/06 Prototype C (PTC) Winter League is finally here!

The 7 round championship kicks off in the USA with 1 hour sprints at Sebring and Watkins Glen. Christmas sees the teams head into Europe to spend the holidays in France for the Le Mans 24 hours event and sprint race just down the road at Rouen. A trip across the channel and back in time lets us visit the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit complete with fast Graham Hill bend and Dingle Dell corner. Finally the Alps beckon for a high speed run around the picturesque Osterreichring at Zeltweg and the season comes to a triumphant close for the 24 hours of Nurburgring (Nordschleife flavour) where the true spirit of that classic video "In-Car 956" will come to life for all.

The league is for the Prototype C 1985 season cars only. Which means a relatively uncompetitive Jaguar (before the full works effort kicked in) a brace of Porsche 956 and 962's plus the screaming works Lancia LC2's. By popular demand league runners must select their cars carefully before the season begins as once you they have used one car in an event they must stick to the same vehicle for the rest of the season.

Mechanical Failures are set to OFF for both expert and amateur classes so dont worry about missed shifts and there will be 2 qualifying attempts allowed for each round.

For more information see the official PTC forum here.

See you at Sebring...
