England
Silverstone; The leaders and the winner(s)

This time a bit more extended news, as there just IS lots to write.

Like usual an update on our 'pride': Sean Edwards. This time he had an even better reason to miss THE race (the F1RST3/TYKA one that is :P). Sean managed in his real life Porsche Super Cup race at his hometrack, for the first time in his career in PSC, to WIN the race!!! AWESOME Sean! We all are VERY proud and happy for you!

In case you want to watch the action and keep track of Sean, visit www.seanedwards.eu (or just read our news here ;) ).
Our member MJanosh edited a video of the race at Silverstone. A MUST see for fans of Sean. The second race in RAIN Sean had success! COULD the weight 'advantage' help by providing more grip? :P. Whatever, apparantly F1RST3/TYKA is a good start for offline racers ;).

Now however what you guys all come here for: the real races in really FAST cars through F1RST3/TYKA ;).

The start of our EXP race was a great one with even 25 cars at the grid in the main race, after 30 qualified! 24 Eager, awake guys and one Veldt000 :D. I HAD to request our photographer to do a shot of Veldt000's start... Later he thought of the excuse his dad called him, so he 'forgot to brake'. Even Michael Schumacher (the real one) never had SUCH excuse :P :D.

It was a race of leaders, in a weird way. We had several newcomers (well, to F1RST3/TYKA that is) from Turkey. FAST ones! The race was lead for a long time by one of them: Ali_Burkay. Until he made a mistake and crashed.
Another leader was B_Izadfar. He lead as well for quite some laps, until he lost concentration and hit some tirewall that was in his way :P.

This reminds me about my own (stupid) mistake. Being in 6th position, after great fights with Zoneur and Karlisss, I JUST overdid it and copied Brian's crash. Lost a wheel 3 laps before finish.
However overpaying your crew pays off! They replaced my entire suspension and wheel (in about 130 seconds :D), so at least I could finish.

The rest of the race was dominated by Championship Leader Tygernoot and JuanFran.

By winning, Tygernoot contributed to Lowland Racing Team (LRT) coming a bit closer to leading team Don't Lift.
However third place this race was for MJanosh. He did a great and very fair race, taking valuable points for Don't Lift, which they need, lacking Edwards for some races!

The AMA devision had a pretty nice grid as well. 20 Drivers qualified this time and 15 showed on the grid for the main race. The entire weekend was dominated by Felipe[BR], by taking pole and winning the race.

Unfortunately some didn't start at all, as they disagreed the penalty we gave for not qualifying according our strict rules.
My friend Iron_Gr JUST missed the podium this time, finishing 4th. Still a great job! Secretly yours truely hopes Iron will, like Vassilis, return to EXP, so I can beat him once more ;).

After our eighth race, the various rankings are as following:

EXP: Tygernoot (see full EXP rankings HERE).

AMA: LulaSenna (see full AMA rankings HERE).

Teams: Don't Lift (see full Teams rankings HERE).

Countries: Netherlands (see full Country rankings HERE).

NOTE: Rankings are final

Some matters of importance:

  • ALWAYS give way if you get a blue flag! Do NOT hinder the guys lapping you! Get off the racing line ASAP and let them pass safely!

  • Again I got many disputes, mainly in our AMA division. PLEASE race with respect for fellow competitors! ALL want to finish, like yourself...

  • 'Warnings and penalties' updates HERE.

Race Reports and video by IÒigo Otermin below!

Heat EXP; by Tygernoot:
"This really was an amazing race. Perhaps not the best, but certainly
one of the most exciting races I have ever driven. I had a good start
off the line and remained in 4th position, following my teammate
RiccardoFerreira closely. In one of the first laps he ran a bit wide
while braking for Club. I don't know why the same happened to me but I
ran even wider (I will blame the oil on the track ;)) and went through
the grass. This allowed the Don't Lifters MJanosh and Locutus to come
really close behind me and MJanosh was the first to pass me. An epic
battle followed... During the battle with MJanosh we sometimes touched
as we were driving different lines and had different wing setups. So I
had to let go off the throttle a bit to allow MJanosh to keep his
position, causing Locutus to overtake me as well.
In the meantime someone had ran over the corner sign at Copse. I was
using that sign to estimate my corner entry and I had a hard time
adapting without it. Most of the first stint I was close behind
Locutus and along with the dirty air I was often missing the corner
entry or was entering too early. This always cost me 10-20 km/h of
exit speed and made it difficult to find overtaking possibilities on
the Hanger Straight.
Still Locutus and I had a very close battle, often going into corners
side by side and he wasn't afraid to close the door. At the same time
he was trying to overtake his teammate MJanosh, and at some points we
were going into the corners with three cars at the same time.
Avni_Tumay was following closely as well, which made this a 4-car
battle! It was simply incredible and even though we were fighting like
maniacs the battle always remained fair.
Avni passed me when I ran wide at Copse going over the high curbs so I
think I was down to 8th position at that time. However, Locutus and
Avni collided going into Abbey in the 15th lap and in lap 17 MJanosh
entered the pits, so I presumed he was on a 3-stop strategy. I went in
on the 20th lap as I was on a 2-stop strategy. At that time I was back
in fourth position with JuanFran and Ricardo around 12 to 15 seconds
in front of me. I finally had a clear track ahead of me and started
pushing to keep up with them. B Izadfar fell asleep and crashed out of
the lead and I noticed JuanFran was on a 3-stop. This meant a 1-2 for
LRT was in sight.
After my second stop Ricardo and I were about 7 seconds ahead of
JuanFran. Ricardo was slowing down a bit and I passed him when he made
a small mistake. Unfortunately for him (and LRT), he was passed by
JuanFran and ended his race a lap later - only a few laps before the
end - due to a crash.
Although having a bad start of the race I was able to enjoy a
fantastic battle with MJanosh, Locutus and Avni, and thanks to some
luck taking my second win of the season.
It's a bit of a shame Sean wasn't here to defend his home Grand Prix
and I doubt I could have won the race had he participated. This win
will give me a big advantage in the championship standings which I'll
probably be needing when my luck ends.
To conclude, I would definitely recommend everyone to download the
replay to watch the battle we had in the first stint, as it was simply
amazing :)."

Heat EXP; by Ricardoferreira:
"This race start with a hope for one podium, i start well always in race line, first corners very hard with Tyger doing lot of pressure.. and i lose 2 seconds for the leaders Brian and Ali. 2 lap i open a little gap for tyger, but JuanFran Pass him... and starting doing lot of pressure beating the faster lap, seems my cars sucks in first stint, later Brian spun and lose the lead for Ali, and i lose time.. because i brake too avoid collision, with Inigo (team job i know m8, u block me because juanfran lol joking) in lap 15 (i think) ali hit the wall, and next Brian in first corner (stupid corner), i pass in start and Say "well done u are leading the race" ok nice.. and i think.. "without Brian this will be easy" lol seems not, Juan do lot of pressure and i open and he pass me easy .. because i know he will stop 3 times.. when he stop i do the faster race lap 1.20.5, and i leading the race easy until last stind, complete destroy for me.. 4 spuns, and a stupid crash in first corner... and my race over in lap 54, i ask Sorry for my team LRT we can do P1 and P2, first in the this season, anyway i will not win, i will open for Tyger win.. because he need the points in drivers champ!
Hope better luck in germany, Atm bad season for me, lots of crash (2 stupids mistakes, canada brakes, and GB).
I want say congratulations too Tyger for a great win, very regular and Juan, first time in EXP and he do a great race.
and again Sorry team!!"

Heat AMA; by Michael Schumacher (not the real one :P):
"My race didnít start as I expected since I had to start from the back due to a qualifying penalty. Before the start of the race I tried some late minute improvements since I knew my car would be unstable after 5-6 laps. So I decided to make it more understeer but slower, at least I would have a nice race pace.  And so it happened. Throughout the race the feeling of the car didnít change at all, so I could pace myself exactly as I liked to. I moved my way up to Flyer who was 3rd at that point then moved to 2nd due to a retirement from Vasilis. At that point I was 6 seconds behind Flyer. I started closing the gap just in time for pit stops. Then I remembered a trick being played by real MS in San Marino 2004 (if I am not wrong) with Button and Honda.  Real MS and Ferrari would be prepared for a pit stop but MS would not go in just to fool Button and make him go in too :). So I did same thing and was changing cameras to see what Flyer would do (maybe he was watching me incar too). After some laps he went in (our gap was less than a second) but even though I had called for pit stops I decided to stay out one more lap. Then I remembered that I didnít try all weekend a pit stop so I didnít know where and if there was a white line at the entry of pit stops. I went in carefully and when I went out just behind Flyer again. At a later lap I managed to pass him rather easily fooling him at the brakes at the long straight, later on he tried to pass me but hit me and apologized. The next laps I tried to keep the gap with Felipe who I donít know if he was pushing but I could keep the gap to a reasonable level! So from last to 2nd and only 1 retirement (from Vasili) I think is pretty cool :D"

Heat AMA; by A_C_Muller:
"Problems persist for this Panda yet again! After I sent in my qualification lap time and before I took part in race something wen't horribly wrong. The car was handling like a truck. When I wanted to turn left the car wanted to go straight, when I wanted to turn right the car wanted to go straight.
My tires wore well, but the grip seemed to be a little off and my brakes though this time acted better either they came on too fast, too early or I braked late. The last chicane was a total disaster as I only ever managed to make it six times out of thirty laps. I lost a front wing again, but this time it was due to the low fuel warning message popping up. I got distracted, went straight off into the kitty litter & braking + steering didn't help. I spun once almost doing a full 360 when I slammed on the gas while riding the rumble strips. I also did a long slide sideways exiting the long straight away
but atleast I got the grass mowed to a proper height for the next person. When a racer took out the 50' marker for the first turn I had to take it easy when going through in fourth gear. I never liked this track and will be glad to see it disappear in my rear view mirror. This Panda is very eager to go and search for bamboo in the Black Forest!"

Heat AMA; by Flyer23:
" I got a decent start, but Rinker got a better one so i had no choise but to let him through into T1. I followed closely until Club, where he went wide. Then he turned back to protect his line but I had undercut him mid corner and was able to accelerate quicker and gained the position. I quickly pulled away and tried to keep in touch with Vassilis and Felipe BR. They were just too fast for me. I was using a 17/13 pit stratagy and hoped i could be in touch but it was not to be. I made one mistake going through Becketts and it cost me about 8-10 seconds. Lucky for me I was able to stay in front of Iron GR who was closing at that point. I put my head down and reeled off a buch of mid 1:20 laps to pul a slight gap. Then I saw I was in P2 only 15 seconds behind Felipe. Something happened to Vasillis. I got to my pit stop only to find I was being closely persued by Michael Shumacher. I pushed hard but made a mistake during braking at Stowe. Michael got by and I tried to stay with him. I had a slight touch in Brooklands. I lifted and barked so he did not spin all the way. I waited for him to get underway again and lucky he had no damage. I appologize for that but this late in the race my tires were shot and sliding quite a bit. He then pulled away from me as I realized I could cruise home for 3rd and take some deent points finally. This by far was my best race of the season. I hope I can improve for the next one in Germany and fight with these guys again. It was an amazing abttle with Michael and he deserves allot of credit for driving with keyboard. P3 for Flyer23 is a great result and I was very happy. "

British GP

Silverstone - Great Britain
The British GP: an exiting event!!

This time there were no disputes at all. So I presume all drove in a fair way.

Amateur:
There are some big big differences between the ama drivers. KLGreene was one second infront of PabloTassano. Who also has an advantage of a second over JVesga. This all if for qualifying of course.
In the race all ama drivers finished! well done! It looks like A_C_Muller is getting used to setting up the car and driving. Every race she gets closer to the other drivers. KLGreene again finished first, while his biggest competitor crossed the finish line in third. Danicristian "stole" some points from PabloTassano.

Expert:
Jeeves, again, took poleposition with 0.5s advantage over GLEN147. Hell-Lo got back on track and managed to get third. Taurus made a movie (see below) of heat one. Jeeves and Taurus were on a three stop strategy. While all others went for a two stop. Jeeves had some bad luck, resulting in a three wheel finish. GLEN147 took the, well deserved, victory. Taurus and veldt000 had a great fight (whole race) for the last bottle of champagne on the podium. Taurus got his podium finish, after a whole race pushing, well done! Again there are drivers with great sportmanship! First, Neela pushed Bryan over the finish, after his engine got a failure at 2/3 of the race. So Bryan ended up in the rankings..... But not for long, Bryan send me an e-mail: remove my points. He didn't covered 75% of the race distance.

Race report from A_C_Muller:
This Panda never liked Silverstone all that much...this was due to my first trying it when RH05 came out. I only ever did a 1/2 lap and ran for my teams cyber jet to get out of England. I got three different set-ups and each was better then the previous one. But, I had to further tweak them to suit my driving style with much less understeer. I knew viking_89 would be faster but didn't think so on the very first lap when all items were cold. At one time during the game, oddly enough only when he lapped me, my computer screen locked up temporarily for one second a total of five different times. The worst being when I would of been taking the first turn maxed out in 5th gear with full right hand lock. Luckily I took it in 3rd gear as ahead of me was a giant white cloud of smoke infront of me. Apparently viking_89 got two wheels onto the grass and spun, had I been in 5th gear I'd of speared him right in the side or spun off to the right. The rest of my race was uneventful until the late going with the odd wide turn, mowing some grass, a close call with a wall & clipping an anti-cut strip. This Panda is looking forward to Germany the home of BMW!

Race report from Jeeves:
I opted for a 3 stop strategy as I had quite a bit of trouble making the tyres last through a full 20 lap stint, despite using the harder compound. Took a reasonably good start and pulled away from Glen, who appeared to rely on a more conventional 2 stops for the race - as did Pascal and Minchia. Folkhart on the other hand was on a 3 stopper, making the strategy game all the more interesting throughout the 60 laps that were ahead of us.

After the first 15 lap stint, I had a healthy 12 second lead over Glen and when I got out of the pitlane, I was around 10 seconds behind him. Did my best to keep up with him, until it was his turn to dive into the pits for some fresh tyres and another 60 some litres of fuel.

The second stint was quite a bit like the first one - just pulling away slightly, trying to stretch out the gap up to around 20 seconds, which would offer me the chance to make that extra pit stop I had to make compared to him and still maintain p1.

I got out of the pits for the 3rd time, 10 seconds clear of Glen so basically what I had to do was just to keep focused and bring it home. And that's exactly what I failed to do. A few laps into the stint, I had a bit of a spin at Brooklands. Nothing too serious, just lost a few seconds of the lead I had. As Glen got quite close, though, I decided to pick up the pace a bit. And then some three laps later, I had a spin at Bridge. Glen got past while I was busy making my way out of the sand trap and held the lead until the finish, as I had one more off track excursion; this time at Chapel (cost me a wheel and a front wing). Could've been worse though. Managed to finish and got some points.

Championships:
Expert:
Glen, Taurus and Jeeves decreased the gap to championship leader veldt000. Who is feeling the pressure all over him. Three drivers hunting him down....

Amateur:
KLGreene managed to extend his lead from 2 points to 7 points. The battle is too close to say anything. The season is still long and all can happen. There is also a battle for third place. Castel, danicristian and viking can still take third. And who know what can happen for A_C_Muller and JVesga, only 40 points to third place.

Teams:
Again EU Racers had a good race. Taurus, Jeeves and Don_Huio scored some good points. While only two drivers brought some points for LRT: veldt000 and neela

Country:
Germany is moving away from the Netherlands. Gastel scored some important points in qualify. Too bad he couldn't make it to the race.

Big thanks to Taurus for the movie and A_C_Muller + Jeeves for their reports.

France, Race results

France
France, the 'Chavless' Race

Again a short one and late as well. A short explanation, to prevent rumours :P. No, I was not in some secret meeting with Sean 'Chavvy' Edwards, nor with my friends Tygernoot or Veldt000.
The reason for my short absence was the fact my ex girlfriend became my future ex wife ;). Now to the racing!

As poor Edwards had again real life testing to do for Porsche and some more Don't Lift members were absent for unknown reasons, other drivers and Teams could finally score some points as well.

In Qualify Adriano500 JUST beat the Race winner and new Championship Leader Tygernoot, taking some valuable points from him.

Like said above, Don't Lift was not that over respresented. Therefore Locutus was the only member to score points for his Team. But he DID make it to the podium! Well done! Stewart apparantly again concentrating on the scenery and his main rival CasH, causing poor Stewart to crash. The great photo's didn't suffer by that as you can see ;).

Race Reports.

Heat EXP; by Tygernoot:
"The start of my race wasn't really great. I braked a bit too late on
the inside of the Adelaide hairpin while trying to overtake adriano in
the first lap. I went over the high curbs on the exit and was in
fourth position having started second. Apparently I didn't attach my
steering wheel properly and it was a bit loose the first laps. At
first I thought something had broken as it was making some weird
noises. I attached it on the straight and it went a lot better.
My driving was quite bad though and I had some close calls with the
wall at the exit of the final chicane and nearly went off in the Imola
chicane multiple times. Finally I got into a good rhythm and things
improved. I didn't have trouble overtaking Locutus or Adriano as they
went off by themselves ;). However, B Izadfar in first position was
already 15 seconds ahead.
I really didn't want to let him get away with the win like I had to in
Istanbul where I couldn't keep up with his pace. So this time I went
for it and was racing at the limit. Still we had similar laptimes and
he even gained a few seconds before the stops. He seemed to have
started light on fuel as he went in early. I kept on pushing until my
first stop, but he was still 15 seconds ahead after. I had no choice
but to keep on driving as fast as I could and a little over half of
the race B-Iz went in again. It was unclear to me whether he would
continue to the end of the race or not.
After my second stop I was 10 seconds ahead but he continued to close
the gap. When he was only a few seconds behind me, he went in again
for his third stop. I turned out he was on a 3-stop strategy all
along. In the end I had 30 seconds advantage, but I slowed down
considerably in the final laps to let Cash unlap me (team orders).
Quite a tough race as I was pushing very hard all the time, unaware of
Brian's pitstop strategy. But it's great to have a race win, although
it would mean a lot more if Edwards had participated :)."

Heat EXP; by B-Izadfar:
"Everyone seemed to get a good, clean start and to make my strategy work
I really had to stay close out of Estoril. I broke at the right time and
could overtake both Tyger and Adriano and take the lead which was GREAT
for my strategy. Pulled away comfortably and had a relatively clean
stint and pitstop, just one incident I had (sorry!) that cost us some time.
I came out not far behind Tyger and tried to chip away the gap. The
laptimes were quite good but again made some big mistakes. On the 2nd
stop I almost ran out of fuel and had to drive like a granny on the
inlap which cost 7seconds and received a drive through penalty!! From
miracle to nightmare realistically the best possible was 2nd unless
something happened to Tyger who had very impressive pace and consistency.
I made a little adjustment in 3rd stop (pressures) and it helped a bit
with consistency. I had 1 close call on lap 48 l, there was not much
either of us could do but cost some.
With some damage repair time, I came out 31 seconds behind Tyger and
about 15 infront of Locutus and I think both were cruising to the finish.
I believe I lost about 31-33seconds this race which would've made it
incredibly close at my final stop to the finish. Congrats Tyger who
managed a mistake free and very fast 2 stop race!"

Heat AMA; by A_C_Muller:
"Brake problems pour un Panda dans France! I used a set-up from one of my previous races that I tweaked in testing. I was quite happy with it's cornering powers & little understeer. I started the race being cautious going into the first two turns with a heavy fuel load, cold tires & cold brakes. My tires were excellent throughout the whole race, but the brake pads were off! I know I almost always set my brake pressure to 100%, use the largest diameter brake disks, I brake late at times but my car is to decellerate, no? My team mate apparently further tweaked my set-up that I sent him that I should of asked him to re-send to me. Again he pulled away with some ease, but I caught up a few times with his minor offs into the kitty litter. I had been expecting him to lap me 2x by the end of the race. At one time I exited the last high speed chicane...only had my left side tires on the rumble strips when I slammed on the gas & proceeded to side into the wall and lose a front wing. As this was half way through my laps before my scheduled pit stop, I have no problems with getting a half race fuel load. I opted to alter my last pit stops volume to my detriment as I made it two laps too short! My team mate did a similar thing when he saw I was in for my second pit stop. Sorry Castor2, for the near heat attack when I let off the gas half way through the second turn. If I had held my speed I'd of been driving through the kitty litter a few centimeters from the wall for over a hundred feet. I'm going to invest heavily (cyber) into the stock of my front wings manufacturer + I may need to visit the factory where my brake pads are made, warns this Panda!"

Canada & France news

Magny Cours - France
Magny Cours race report and.... Montreal

This time a small bonus: two races in one report :).

Amateur:
It is getting a bit boring for Canada KLGreene managed to get pole again while PabloTassano got 2nd place. Postion 7 to 11: all Romanian drivers :). For the race danicristian managed to drive to 2nd place, well done! KLGreene got in first, while PabloTassano finished behind danicristian.

For the MagnyCours GeorgePrix surprisingly took poleposition with KLGreene beside him on first row. GeorgePrix converted his poleposition to a race win! good job! PabloTassano got in 2nd and KLGreene 3rd.

Expert:
For the Canadian and France GP Jeeves got the fastest time in qualify and race adding 200 points. Veldt000 got 2nd in Montreal, for the 6th time in a row he claimed that position. Breaking that "habit" at MagnyCours: driving his car into the pit complex! But I heard for reliable sources that also Glen and Taurus did the same thing.
While Bryan1 and Don got a podium finish. Also worth to mention is that Gastel did his race alone, because he has a broken wrist! He managed to finish and now is on a well deserved holiday from LRT salary.

Race report from A_C_Muller (Montreal - Canada):
Fast Heat Race with a PANDA! For my home GP I was in a fast group of six racers. It's for that very reason (my being 5th on the grid), I allowed viking_89 to pass me into the first turn. I did not want to be caught out with cold tires & brakes, crash and be out of the race a few seconds after starting it. To my surprise no accidents took place and I made up no positions. I was on viking_89's tail for lap after lap until the last chicane where I went a little wide, got onto the rumble strip, slammed on the gas pedal and proceeded to spin out! Other then spinning out where Alonso spun (in the real world) but not hitting the wall was my other time waster. One time I got a blue flag with no car to be seen from behind. Something may of been incorrect with respect to my display, as I was shown to be on the lead lap by the end of the race yet I was two laps down. I had a good race, but by no means was it a great one. I never contacted Champions wall, but those chicanes were the undoing of this Pandas race.

Embarrasing moment for veldt000 - loosing a wheel at pit entry

Championships:
Expert:
Veldt000 now has good lead: 143 points, but with Jeeves in his current form the championship isn't over.

Amateur:
KLGreene
took over the lead. Only 2points separates Pablo and KLGreene. God knows what can happen here!

Teams:
EU Racers scored some good points in last two races, but will it ever be exiting again? I hope so!

Country:
Germany and The Netherlands are in a great fight here, only 2 points difference. But Germany has a "fake" driver, some import guy called Bryan :D :P.

Big thanks to Taurus for the movie and A_C_Muller for the report.

F1RST3 3.326 Release Notes

What's new

  • Updated the physics for the F1C League: now using the latest 2008 physics made by Taurus. See here for more information on how to download the 2008 skins to go with the physics: http://forum.f1rst3.com/index.php?showtopic=13507&hl=

  • The track length of the rFactor Istabul circuit now correctly matches the real race length (100% = 58 laps)

  • Disabled AI on the dedicated server. The AI would sometimes race themselves preventing users from entering the session.

  • Disabled the qualifying for the F1C League which prevented the hosts from setting the grid.

  • Disabled the data encryption and saving of the practise replays on the server for league races. This should hopefully fix the delay and high CPU usage when switching from the practise session to the race.

F1RST3 3.325 Release Notes

What's new

  • Added the MMG Barcelona track (new layout) for rFactor
Available for autodownload in the client, or can be downloaded manually here.

  • IMPORTANT: There are two known issues with this track.
    - When hosting your own room the people that join your session will get a "Barcelona.tdf mismatch". In order to avoid this, you must delete or move the ..\GameData\Locations\Barcelona folder which contains the old Barcelona track made by ISI.
    - When hosting your own room, you must set the weather to dry. Using overcast weather will make the track go completely black.
    - When qualifying for the league race you won't encounter these issues.

  • Added the France, Magny-Cours track for rFactor
Available for autodownload in the client, or can be downloaded manually here.
  • This is a conversion from GP4 as there currently is no track available for rFactor with the latest layout. This track may be replaced once a new version comes out.

  • People could still enter sessions on F1RST3 through the matchmaker at certain times (ISI forces the matchmaker option). This shouldn't happen anymore.

  • Fixed the incorrect link to the results after a league qualification or league race.
